The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing relationships, identifying opportunities, negotiating and closing deals with Japanese mobile gaming developers and major IP holders. This position will require a deep knowledge of both Japanese and overseas mobile games industry, including strong relationships with major developers and IP holders, as well as a deep understanding of partnership structures and terms between game developer, IP holder and publisher.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Build strong relationships with decision-makers in major Japanese gaming companies and IP holders, such as Bandai Namco, Cygames, Aniplex, and more
  • Identify investment & publishing opportunities, initiate negotiations with partners, and drive deal to closing
  • Work closely with management, publishing studios & finance to evaluate opportunities and decide strategy
  • Work with legal and other teams on drafting and review of contracts
  • Conduct local market research on all aspects of online gaming, with priority on mobile
  • Work with business team to build database tracking Japanese developers, major titles, and corporate structures of key games and IP holders
  • Set both high level and monthly KPIs to drive progress on all projects/relationships
  • Set and manage a budget 


  • Have strong existing relationships in the Japanese mobile gaming industry
  • Have a deep knowledge of Japanese IPs and the IP owners
  • Understand partnership structures and terms between game developer, IP holder and publisher
  • Experience in negotiation and business development (Preferred)
  • Be a highly motivated self-starter
  • Strong communication, organization and planning skills
  • Be positive, energetic and passionate about gaming
  • Have ability to coordinate across multiple partners and stakeholders
  • Enjoy working with a team as well as operating independently
  • Be fluent in spoken and written Japanese
  • Working proficiency in English or Mandarin
