This is the first year that VNG participated in this award. The category “Most innovative CSR company Vietnam 2023” was evaluated based on the extent, nature, and social impacts of the corporate’s CSR activities in the last years. 

 

According to the judging panel, the key aspect of selecting nominees for this category is the corporate achieving the balance of social, environmental and business imperatives. Among many market-leading corporates, VNG prominently stood out with a series of constant support to several non-governmental organizations, and social clubs in medical, education and other fields in Vietnam for many years. 

In particular, the award’s judging panel highly appreciates VNG’s remarkable community activities in Covid-19 pandemic. In 2020 – 2021, VNG contributed 28 billion VND to the Covid-19 Prevention Fund and the Vietnam Government's Vaccine Fund. The idea of connecting the sponsors with disadvantaged people/ organizations nationwide through ZaloPay and Zalo, or Saigon Heroes project of VNG supported 50 hospitals treating Covid-19 in HCMC with a total donation of 32.5 billion VND, including 20 HFNC ventilators, over 100,000 medical protective suits, gloves, masks, meals and computers managing patients’ data. 

 

Especially, VNG is mentioned as a pioneer in combining technology platforms, running racing and volunteering with an annual event named UpRace. Starting as VNG’s internal activity in 2017, after a 5-year journey (2018 – 2022), this event has created a run volunteer community all over Vietnam and overseas with 16.5 million km records and 25 billion VND contribution to the organizations, including Newborns Vietnam, Green Viet, Vietseeds, Operation Smile Vietnam, Saigon Children’s Charity, Association for the Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans and Save Vietnam's Wildlife.  

In 2022, VNG committed to supporting Newborns in Vietnam in 3 years with 9,08 billion VND, sharing the attempt of zero infant deaths from preventable causes. All the donations were used in training programs for young doctors, nurses, and midwives of district-level and provincial hospitals. 

 

Besides, VNG has provided Passerelles numériques Việt Nam (PNV), a French non-governmental organization with a training center in Vietnam, supported disadvantaged young individuals through digital education and training, an anti-drowning club named Swim Vietnam and CyberKid Vietnam – a social organization with a mission to protect Vietnamese children from cyber security threats when accessing the Internet. 

The idea of combining volunteer work with teambuilding and employee engagement activities was also appreciated. Recently, nearly 500 ZaloPay employees visited and gave gifts to 9 orphanages and nursing homes in the Southern provinces during the teambuilding trip in 2023. Aside from the meaningful gifts, they helped to paint and repair facilities, clean the living spaces, prepare lunch for lonely elderly people, and organize game booths for the orphans (hoop-la, coloring plaster and folding paper cranes…). 

 

With outstanding, continuous innovation in community activities and positive impacts on society, VNG always pays serious attention to social activities, considering the implementation of community responsibility just as crucial as business goals. From 2023, VNG aims to expand the scope of support, expecting to empower more social individuals/ organizations with more meaningful and creative activities.

Before the Global Business Review award, VNG was recognized as the "Best Country Award for Overall CSR Excellence" at Global CSR Summit & Awards 2021, one of the prestigious awards honoring companies with sustainable strategies, products, services, development projects, and innovative CSR programs worldwide.
