Women in Game: there is nothing impossible

02:58 AM | 12/04/2023

Taking place in March within the VNGGames’s internal sharing program GameTalk, the first meeting-up with the theme “Women in Game” revealed interesting stories of three guests who are high-profiled experts in the Game & Entertainment, as well as three blossoming and talented “flowers”:

· Ms. Ngo Thi Soa (Group Manager, Head of Game Studio 9)

· Ms. Quynh Anh (Lead Business Analyst BUFF)

· Ms. Linh Pham (Client Solutions Manager – TikTok Global Gaming)

During the discussion with VNG’s Starters, looking back on their journey in the field, our guests brought to participants insightful, honest, and motivating sharing.

#1 – There is more than 1 reason to join and stay in the Gaming industry

When female talents come to the industry, many of them are “newbies”, having almost no experience with the products or the hobby of playing games. On the contrary, the first thing that comes to their mind is that this is a creative, well-rewarding field, but only suitable for men and somehow risky.

However, after a period of working for it, most female warriors realize that there is more than 1 reason for them to step up and contribute to the industry. For example, Ms. Soa’s story is: “The reason I worked in this industry for such a long time is probably that the industry itself is like a fascinating game title, constantly releasing new content, new versions, new goals. Teammates are also a big factor. My team at VNG is very kind, very enthusiastic, and ready to carry each other over challenges at any time.”

#2 – Environmental factors must be placed behind “yourself”

When being asked about the impact of the environment and industry on their own growth, all three characters shared the same opinion: no matter what the field is, industrial factors are only a secondary incentive, and all decisions must come from yourself. More specifically, the environment plays a role in creating a context, being a catalyst for us to have enough information to make our own decisions and figure out the directions.

#3 – Women in Game, nothing is impossible

Returning to the story of women working in the game industry, it seems that this is no longer a new phenomenon. In contrast, there are more and more equal opportunities for anyone to choose their own career, it is important that we understand ourselves and choose a suitable career path. “I think your desires and strengths will correspond to the career you pursue. Gender is not the key factor.” - Ms. Quynh Anh emphasized.

We are thankful to our guests joining GameTalk #1 for being so enthusiastic about their job, creating certain successes, and bringing their own values into the shared objectives of the company. That is also the spirit that VNGGames want to nurture among our Starters: always say Yes to opportunities and break your limits.
