GameTalk discussed Game content: Understand, Identify and Execute

07:08 AM | 07/06/2023

The GameTalk series has made its comeback with the second session on May 19 on “Game Content: Build Up to Level Up.” At the event, Starters gathered and listened to the sharing of the speakers from VNGGames, including Mr. Vuong An Hai - Head of Game Studio 1, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia - Product Manager of Game Studio 9, and Mr. Huynh Dang Khoa - Marketing Manager of Game Studio 2.

When going viral is not the only goal

As observed, a majority of game freshers with little to no experience normally would only view Game Content as the way a title is presented in media or through communication channels. In reality, Game Content covers a broader range, from building concepts, storylines, gameplay, costumes, maps, and characters, to communicating with users, maintaining communities, providing service support, organizing offline activities or contests, etc. Having a concise understanding of Game Content will greatly support the work of game developers and publishers in creating more insightful, relevant, and helpful content of the product.

Game Content comes to “save the day”

Speaking of their working experience and memories during their work at VNG, all speakers share the same position: they value learning and growing from challenges, bouncing back after each struggle, and aiming for the better every day. It was Hai’s story of Vo Lam Truyen Ky’s journey and how the series has been thriving, securing its place in the online game scene in Vietnam, and continuously learning the new needs of its market and users to better the product. It was Nghia’s story when VNG publishes the title Play Together and the harmony of factors to help reach the product’s goals, maintaining the love of its users through timely and interesting updates.

Besides these case studies proving the importance of Game Content, two guest speakers also shared some of what they believe are takeaways from their perspectives and experience. To sum up their discussion, the host - Khoa helped all participants visualize the big picture of Game Content again through some key points. He also suggested the fundamental role of people in the creation of Game Content: as we actively learn and better understand our product, the content we create will be able to serve more purposes, helping the product gain more potential customers and getting closer to becoming successful. Moreover, a good game developer or publisher needs to be ahead of the curve in knowing when to emphasize what goals to maximize the achieved results of each game title.

To “find happiness in each day at work”

The event serves its intention as Starters who attended are now equipped with further knowledge and understanding of Game Content. The speakers concluded their sharing session by wishing everyone to have happiness each time they clock in, which was positively responded to. Job satisfaction turns out to remain crucial and hugely affects the product’s outcomes. Creating quality Game Content equals that the creator finds happiness in what they are doing and will continue spreading this energy into their products and towards their colleagues, creating a strong bond working community.

GameTalk #2 ended on a good note with many ideas shared among both the speakers and all attendees. Such positive participation of VNGGames Starters truly encourages VNGGames to deliver more internal sharing, learning, and bonding activities and strengthen our connection as a whole.
