How VNG Embraces and Applies Corporate Culture Trends to the Workplace

“Best Workplace” is more than a title or a distant goal of VNG; it is our comprehensive strategy based on the notion that an ideal work environment would foster a dynamic, creative, collaborative, and friendly team in which individuals can maximize their potential, passion, and creativity.

 

Let’s discover how VNG has embraced the latest corporate culture trends and applied them to the employee experience over the years to genuinely become the “Best Workplace”. 

 

2019 – 2020 | Focusing on flexibility: VNG Campus – A Stunning Headquarters  

Throughout our operation since 2004, VNG has continuously upgraded the workspace to provide comfortable and convenient employee experiences.

 

 

Until the 2019 - 2020 term, VNG Campus officially became the Headquarters with fantastic architecture and functioning. With a total area of 52,000 square meters, VNG Campus can be compared to global campus standards, featuring open spaces, modern facilities, combined with sports and entertainment amenities, relaxation areas with greenery, and landscapes to enhance creativity and connection among Starters. It also serves as a venue for VNG internal events, having a capacity of over 3,000 people. VNG Campus offers a new workplace, affirming the company’s innovative spirit as a “technology hub” in Vietnam.

 

 

2021 | Strengthening remote and hybrid work during the COVID-19 

In 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a large impact on business dynamism. VNG quickly adapted and implemented remote and hybrid work models simultaneously for all employees. With various online engagement activities such as Q&A sessions with the CEO, online sports classes, VNG 17h Sharing – A series of knowledge sharing sessions... VNG continues to encourage the learning culture during the social distancing period.

 

 

Coming back to the new normal era, employees can choose the work models when needed, if it ensures work efficiency. Working support tools and processes such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams... are improved to maintain flexibility and work-life balance. 

 

2022 | Embracing Generation Z: Zét-nology and a series of programs “by Gen Z - for Gen Z” 

We welcomed new employees from Generation Z (born from 1997 to 2010) on-boarding, which occupies approximately 38% of the total VNG’s employees. To attract and develop Generation Z, who are familiar with technology, smart, and independent, VNG has implemented many programs:

  • Zét-nology – A campaign organized by VNG to explore insights into Gen Z and technology through a series of interesting activities such as the Gen Z Talkshow named Zét-Talk, VNG Product Case Challenge. Zét-nology creates a space for Gen Z to express their feelings and stories about their expectations and turn them into motivation.
  • VNG Tech Fresher & VNG Level Up Fresher: Two out of the most attractive recruitment and training programs for tech and non-tech students to join and grow in key product teams at VNG. After the application process, selected talents can participate in the training sessions with expertise and challenge themself in real projects as official employees. Each program had received over 1,000 applications and recruited more than 50 young talents to join VNG.

 

 

2023 | Embracing diversity - Expanding global footprints 

With the multinational working culture, VNG has nearly 4,000 employees from 20 different nationalities working in 10 cities all around the world.

  • Taking inspiration from this diversity, VNG launched the VNGPalette – a campaign by VNG to celebrate all the beautiful differences in generations, locations, expertise, and unique characteristics and build a workplace where everyone can feel valued and respected regardless of their background or identity. With a unique spectrum that includes nearly 30 shades reflecting the diversity, each Starter can create their own color palette.

 

 

  • Cross-border engagement activities such as knowledge-sharing sessions, work skills discussions, or meetings with experts from various fields, companies, and countries to facilitate Starter with the latest international standards.
  • Multidimensional and multilingual communication channels for Starters to grasp all information and share moments from everywhere. 

 

In August 2023, VNG was named on the list of Best Workplaces™ in Asia 2023 by Great Place to Work® - a global authority on workplace culture. Also, VNG is one of the 3 Vietnamese homegrown companies that are present in the Large-size companies list. This is the prominent milestone that VNG has achieved after one year of being certified as a Great Place to Work and ranking among the Top 5 Large Enterprises in Vietnam. 

 

The “Best Workplaces™ in Asia” title will continuously inspire VNG in the journey of embracing the international standards of a workplace “for all”.
