Associate Product Owner (Payment Platform), Zalopay

The Payment Platform Team builds and scales the core infrastructure that powers every transaction at Zalopay. Our work ensures reliability, speed, and security across both domestic and international payments. As an Associate Product Owner, you will partner with product managers to analyze data, write product requirements, and drive delivery with engineering teams. Over time, you will take ownership of modules within the platform, focusing on initiatives that directly improve checkout success, ensure secure transactions, enhance reliability, and enable cross-border expansion.

This role provides exposure to the full spectrum of Zalopay's payment ecosystem — from the payment core platform (transaction processing, accounting entries, fund flows) to cross-border payments (FX, settlement) — and supports Zalopay's vision of going global.

Responsibilities:

Product Strategy & Roadmap

• Contribute to the long-term roadmap for payment core and cross-border payment features, and translate it into concrete feature scope.
• Shape feature priorities that improve checkout flow, secure transactions, and global scalability.

Execution & Delivery

• Write clear Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), UML diagrams, and workflow documentation (user flows, sequence diagrams, system diagrams).
• Collaborate with engineering, QA, and design to ensure smooth delivery.
• Participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and daily scrum activities.

Data-driven Analysis

• Utilize SQL, Python, and dashboarding tools (Superset, Metabase, JupyterLab, Tableau) to monitor system health.
• Track and analyze KPIs such as success rate, latency, error codes, and transaction volumes.
• Provide insights to guide problem-solving and post-launch improvements.

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work with Finance, Risk, Compliance, Accounting, and Merchant teams on end-to-end initiatives.
• Align with external stakeholders, including banks, card schemes, and global payment partners.



Functional Skills

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 1+ years of product management or Business Analyst experience. Experience in payments, digital wallets, cross-border payments, fintech, banking, or technology platforms is preferred.
• Has owned at least one feature end-to-end: framing the problem, writing the PRD, and shipping an MVP.
• Ability to read and interpret UML and system diagrams, and to produce sequence and user-flow diagrams using tools such as Figma, Visio, or Draw.io.
• Familiarity with query languages: SQL and Python, and exposure to big data environments (Hive, Spark).
• Knowledge of database management fundamentals (e.g., schema design) is a plus.
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum project management practices.
• Comfortable using AI tools in daily product work: drafting and reviewing documentation, querying and summarizing data, and prototyping flows to align with engineering.
