1. Job Purpose

The FP&A Executive turns Zalopay’s operating data into the basis for management decisions — the monthly management reporting pack for C-level, the consolidated package reported to VNG Group under IFRS, and the profitability of each lending product and bank partnership.

The role owns the numbers across three areas — management reporting, planning and budget control, and financial partnership performance — and is normally the first to see when a figure moves away from expectation. Its output feeds directly into decisions on commercial terms with partner banks, new product launches, and cost allocation.

At Executive level the expectation is not only to produce the number, but to state what it means, recommend the action that follows from it, and hold that position under challenge from business teams and leadership.

2. Key Responsibilities

Management Reporting (40%)

•     Own the monthly management reporting pack for C-level — production, accuracy, and on-time delivery — working with the Data team on source data and with the Accounting team on the closed ledger.

•     Perform detailed variance analysis for Zalopay: actual versus budget and versus forecast, identifying the driver behind each material variance (volume, rate, mix; structural versus one-off) and stating the business implication, not only the movement.

•     Act as the key contact for VNG Group package reporting: prepare the periodic Group package, apply and document IFRS adjustments from VAS, complete submission in the Group budget and reporting tools, and deliver ad-hoc analysis requested by Group within the deadline set.

•     Design and implement new management reports and dashboards to support leadership’s needs on Zalopay performance.

•     Review and improve the reporting process to shorten turnaround, remove manual steps, and reduce error rates.

Planning & Budget Control (25%)

•     Build, maintain, and update the financial models supporting the annual budget and the rolling forecast; actualize after each monthly close and explain what moved in the forecast and why.

•     Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate the impact of market fluctuations, commercial term changes, and new product launches.

•     Support the annual and quarterly budget cycle: collect inputs from relevant departments, challenge assumptions not supported by trend or driver logic, consolidate into the submission, and track budget utilization so over- or under-spend is flagged early.

•     Prepare supporting materials and defend budget and forecast figures in review sessions with the Head of Department and the leadership team.

Business Partnering — Bank Partnerships, Lending Products & Bank Guarantee (35%)

•     Analyze the financial performance of partnership projects and collaborate with business teams to enhance efficiency and profitability — delivering the recommendation, not only the read.

•     Develop scenario models to support strategic initiatives and proposed commercial term adjustments, quantifying the downside case before terms are agreed.

•     Work with the Data team to build and refine performance dashboards for lending and other financial products.

•     Develop insight analysis on user fees and propose ways to optimize the related operating costs.

•     Support periodic evaluations with partner banks and assist in issuing bank guarantees when required, maintaining the record of outstanding guarantees and their status.

3. Requirements

Must-have

•     Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

•     2–3 years of experience in FP&A, financial analysis, audit, banking, fintech, or digital payments. Candidates from a pure audit background should be able to evidence exposure to budgeting or forecasting beyond the audit engagement.

•     Has personally owned at least one recurring finance deliverable end to end — a monthly reporting pack, a budget, or a forecast model built from scratch — including accountability for its accuracy and its deadline.

•     Working knowledge of VAS, plus practical exposure to IFRS adjustments or consolidated reporting to a parent company.

•     Advanced Excel, including handling and reconciling data from multiple sources.

•     Strong scenario modeling and data analysis skills.

•     Willing to work hands-on — extracting, cleaning, and checking raw data personally.

•     Vietnamese and English working proficiency: Vietnamese for internal stakeholders, English for Group reporting and leadership materials.

Preferred

•     Power Query, Power Pivot, or SQL.

•     Experience with high-volume transaction data and fintech business models.

•     Background in banking, consumer finance, e-wallets, payment gateways, or lending products.

•     ACCA, CFA, or CMA — part-qualified or above.

4. Competencies

•     Uses AI tools at a working level to accelerate analysis, reporting, and documentation, and verifies the output against source numbers before relying on it.

•     Works effectively with multiple stakeholders, internal and external — sourcing data directly and presenting numbers so that non-finance audiences can follow the conclusion.

•     Organizes and prioritizes several workstreams in parallel without needing each task assigned.

•     Holds up under deadline pressure and flags a slipping deadline early, with a revised date attached.

•     Works independently, digs into problems to root cause, follows tasks through to closure, and keeps looking for a better way.
